Sam Travis

Bass 2025 -

I am a Bass Choral Graduate, having graduated with a BA in Music from the neighbouring Trinity College, where I sang as a choral scholar for three years. During my studies, I took a special interest in music analysis, particularly quantitative (numerical) analysis of Webern’s earlier works. I am a Londoner and spent my Saturdays as a teenager attending the Junior department of the Royal Academy of Music as a violist, singer and composer.

Favourite piece of choral music?

Unfortunately, I don’t have a singular favourite piece, so I’ll list some of my favourites. In no particular order, Howells’ Requiem, Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, Mäntyjärvi’s O Magnum Mysterium (and his Stuttgarter Psalmen) and Parry’s Songs of Farewell.

What do you enjoy beyond singing?

I’m very into listening to and performing chamber music. I also enjoy reading, composing and having a drink with friends.
